BIRDS OF LA CEJA (Antioquia) 2.200 m.a.s.l. elevation Part I

The Bosque de la Cristalina Natural Reserve is located in the municipality of La Ceja. This is my permanent place of residence. There I have observed more than 200 species of birds moving through the forests and grasslands. It is important, every year, the arrival and passage of migratory birds from both hemispheres. Because human activities have negatively and drastically altered ecosystems, putting the survival of all living things at risk, together with my family and neighbors, we have taken simple actions to help birds, both resident and migratory.  

The shares are:
Plant native plants, with attractive fruits and flowers.
Provide water and food
Make secure windows.
Do not use pesticides.
Keep cats indoors.
Use less plastic.
Report observations to research projects.

 En el municipio de La Ceja se encuentra La Reserva Natural Bosque de la Cristalina.  Este es mi lugar de residencia permanente. Allí he observado aves de más de 200 especies que se mueven entre los bosques y pastizales. Es importante, cada año, la llegada y paso de aves migratorias de los dos hemisferios. Debido a que las actividades humanas han alterado de forma negativa y drástica los ecosistemas, poniendo en riesgo la supervivencia de todos los seres vivos, junto con mi familia y vecinos, hemos adoptado acciones simples para ayudar a las aves, tanto a las residentes como a las migratorias. 

Las acciones son:
Sembrar plantas nativas, con frutos y flores atractivas
Suministrar agua y alimento
Hacer ventanas seguras.
No usar pesticidas.
Tener los gatos dentro de la casa.
Usar menos plástico.
Reportar las observaciones a proyectos de investigación.

THE BIRDS OF LA CRISTALINA (LAS AVES DE LA CRISTALINA )

La Cristalina is a beautiful creek bordered by forests and grasslands, in some places it forms small wetlands, which further increases the diversity of birds. These wetlands are currently tending to disappear due to the presence of developers. Allowing these sites to remain would not only protect the biodiversity associated with them but would also be an important landscape element in new developments.

La Cristalina es una hermosa quebrada bordeada de bosques y pastizales, en algunos lugares forma pequeños humedales, lo que incrementa aun más la diversidad de aves. Estos humedales actualmente tienden a desaparecer por la presencia de los urbanizadores. Permitir que estos lugares permanezcan no solo protegerían la biodiversidad asociada a ellos sino que también serían un elemento paisajístico importante en las nuevas parcelaciones.

Common in the lower part of La Cristalina. In the upper part it is evicted by the Alcaravanas, Vanellus chilensis.

Común en la parte baja de La Cristalina. En la parte alta es desalojado por las Alcaravanas, Vanellus chilensis.
